The major energy sources are: 1.      Atomic/Radiation/Nuclear 2.      Biological 3.      Chemical 4.      Electrical 5.      Gravitational 6.      Mechanical 7.      Pressure 8.      Thermal 9.      Sound.   The essential elements are: Identification of potential emergencies procedures for dealing with the identified emergencies the identification of, location of & operational procedures for emergency equipment the emergency response training requirements The location and use of emergency facilities the fire protection requirements the alarm and emergency communication requirements the first aid services required procedures for rescue and evacuation the designated rescue and evacuation workers.   I work in an insurance company (office and cubicles) as an insurance underwriter.   •       Consider potential fire emergencies based on energy sources •       Based on a completed hazard identification & assessment…       What could wrong? How might it happen? What is an optimal response?                                 Example:  Commercial Construction site                                 – Existing utilities (gas, water, electrical lines)                                 – Large mechanical equipment for excavation on site                                 – Compressed air, propane & welding gases on site What energy sources should be considered?     Check them all…                           Sources of ignition                                                                  Potential chemical reactions                                                                      Potential fuel sources •       What potential release of energy could result in fire?                                                                 Consider all ‘transformation’ & ‘transfer’ potential •       After you’re done… get another informed opinion…
