Based on the book “Discourses” by Machiavelli QUESTIONS: 1. Assuming that a republic is healthy (not corrupt), how and to what extent does Machiavelli demonstrate an appreciation for the people (the multitude, the populace, or il popolo)? What role do leaders play in maintaining that healthy republic with regards to the populace? (The second question is the minor question and should be no more than one page and no less than two paragraphs of the essay). 2. Give a specific analysis of how Machiavelli depicts modern life, what it means to be alive in the modern world. As specifically as possible, what political lessons does he attempt to teach us? Why are these lessons important?
