To advance your hands-on familiarity with the various methods introduced in class, you will conduct a literature review on a social scientific subject of your choosing. Your review should evaluate and synthesize five academic articles published in the last ten years with particular attention to their methodological approaches. The assignment should be in the form of an essay, and feature the necessary items of a literature review: introduction (define the scope of the topic), the body of the review (organize the research into major subtopics, compare their methodologies), conclusion (summarize the main findings, identify areas of further research), and references (full citations of the items used). Further guidelines will be specified in class, and a template will be provided. Your assignment should not exceed 2500 words (Times New Roman 12, double-spaced).
