The Happiness Advantage

Please write a summary response essay to Shawn Achor’s The Happiness Advantage. To do this you should consider the following ideas as you construct your essay: Think about what Shawn Achor’s perspective on happiness and success. Be sure to describe in your essay what the book is about and how it applies to happiness and success. What main ideas is Achor trying to present in the book, and what how is does he convince you that happiness comes before success? Pay attention! In order to write a response essay like this one, you will need to include: Thesis statement asserting what the main idea of the book is. In the introduction, you will need to briefly summarize the main points in the text. In the subsequent body paragraphs, you will need to point out whether the author supports his theories sufficiently. Does his information support his main idea? In the conclusion paragraph, you will need to demonstrate analysis and offer some concluding ideas. Your papers must include the following: A clearly defined thesis statement that presents the main topic for your entire paper. Specific and clear examples from the text and real-life that support your thesis statement. Development of the thesis throughout the body of the paper and the conclusion. Proper English usage and grammar: No jargon, or slang Accurate spelling (Do not simply rely on Spell Check or Grammar Check!) Use of proper sentence structure No fragments or run-ons Accurate Usage and Syntax. A Demonstration of accurate and precise citations of all direct quotes and ideas paraphrased from the text. (I will help you with this part of the paper.) No block quotes! Direct Quotes must be limited to 3 and must be no longer than 2 lines each. Each quote must be cited in the MLA style. (Parenthetical Citations or Endnotes) You may not use the words: “I”, “ Me”, “My” or “Myself” in this essay. The analysis you present must also be logical in its presentation. This means that your ideas contained within the body of your paper must be presented in a specific organized and structured format. Your paper must be the required length with the proper MLA one-inch margins. I will not accept any paper that is not the required length. To prepare for this paper you should consider the following items: Decide what the author’s main points are in his book and what he asserts that promotes happiness in life; and whether or not his ideas would really make a person really sustainably happy.
